CLOTHING TIPS FOR YOUR NEWBORN SESSION AT HOME

FOR MUM

STRETCHY FOR EASE OF MOVEMENT

Best piece of advice I can give you is to wear something that makes you feel great and something that is easy to move around in. Softer, stretchier fabrics allow you to move and pose more easily.

WRAP DRESSES

A great example is the simple wrap dress. It just has it all - comfortable, stretchy, easily accessible for feeds and looks sooo flattering!

BUTTONED SHIRTS & CARDIS

Try a simple white shirt that you can easily unbutton for feeds. Pairing with bare feet will give a natural, home vibe, as will something like a cosy knitted cardi. This kind of thing will work with my photo style more effortlessly than something really dressy. These are also timeless pieces that won't date your images.

CHOOSE COMPLIMENTARY COLOURS

If you want photos with siblings and / or partner, don't fell like you need to be all 'matchy'. Choose  a palette of 2 or 3 colours which are complimentary. This could include a bit of pattern mixed in with plain items.

FOR BABY

If you choose outdoors for your pregnancy photo session, the only real difference is that you'll need to consider the weather. In the colder months, pick out something that gives you warmth as well as comfort and style. You can easily have your coat open to show off your bump. Think about earthy toned colours that go with the season.

Layers are always good, as you can adjust to the weather plus it can give you some variety in your gallery of images with different combinations. Cardigans, shawls, or light jackets will also give your photos texture and versatility. For eg, a long knitted cardi or smart coat will work well with a body hugging dress, revealing your beautiful belly underneath.

In the summer, you can't go wrong with a gorgeous maxi dress in soft pastel colours. Very flattering and stylish at the same time! Pair with a light cardi.

Stretchy tops are a fail safe. They are ideal as they fit to your shape, maximising your gorgeous mum-to-be silhouette. Pair it with jeans, long skirt, shorts even! It's also something that you will already have and can accessorise easily and dress up a bit, with for example a colourful scarf.

TIP - If there's a sicky situation, have a back up top planned the night before and have it close to hand for a swift outfit change.

TIP - A light scarf or woollen blanket can be very useful to drape around you and baby for a warm & cozy, layered look.
