We’ll begin with a relaxed pre-consultation. Nothing formal, just a proper conversation about you and your family. What’s brought you here? What are you longing to remember?
It’s a chance to make sure this feels right. If you’d rather type than talk, that’s absolutely fine. We’ll do it your way.

Your session is a pause from everyday demands. A chance to drop your shoulders and sink into your family. I’ll quietly weave in playful prompts and gentle guidance to spark natural interaction, keeping everyone relaxed and engaged.
There’s no rush, no agenda, just time to connect, laugh, and leave feeling quietly thrilled about what we’ve captured.

Within 2 weeks, you’ll step into your own little world of memories. Your photos will be waiting in a beautifully simple online gallery, complete with a slideshow.
Take a deep breath, press play, and let the moments wash over you. (happy tears optional, but very likely.)

You'll have 30 days to view your gallery. It's time to pick your favourite images, select your products/packages, and add any extras. All this can be done directly from the gallery.

OPEN SPACES WHERE KIDS CAN BE KIDS
Being outdoors gives children space to move, explore, and be themselves. No walls, no distractions. Those little adventures bring out smiles, hugs, and authentic interactions. Their curiosity leads the way. (sounds, smells, textures) I capture the genuine reactions, laughter, and all the moments in between, with helpful direction where needed.
PHOTOGRAPHY, AT YOUR PACE
Your session isn’t timed to the minute. We take our time - think of it as a gentle pause from every day tasks, where you can lower your shoulders and simply enjoy your family. I’ll do the connecting and observing, so you can switch off for once and leave feeling refreshed and excited to see your images.
FUN & GAMES FOR NATURAL SMILES
Because I’m a new face to your children, I take time to get on their level. That might mean a quick game, a simple bit of silliness, or inviting them to be my assistant for a shot. It helps them feel involved, relaxed, and genuinely happy to be there, which naturally leads to the smiles you really want to see.

COMMON QUERIES
WHAT DO I WEAR? You don't need to rush out to the shops in a panic and buy a new outfit. You will more than likely have something in your wardrobe that will be perfect. You can choose to colour co-ordinate the whole family which can look effective. For example, pick out 3 colours and have everyone wear one or two of those colours. Mix up some patterns with plains belonging to the same palette. Avoid lots of patterns together and characters /logos on kids clothing. Make sure you are comfortable. Wardrobe staples like shirts, wrap dresses, boots and jeans will never fail to look good and create that timeless look. I've got a whole guide on this which you can download straight from this site. Wait for the pop up and you can get your hands on one!
WHAT IF MY CHILD DOESN'T CO-OPERATE? It could well be something that puts you off booking, am I right? When it hits the fan just let it take its course. I know it’s hard, but if you get stressed and show it, this will only make things worse. Having your session outdoors means there is less chance that your five year old will have his daily strop at exactly the wrong moment. There is so much to see and explore outside, especially if the location you have chosen is somewhere new for you. There are also a few things you can do to keep things on an even keel. Prepare your kids for what is going to happen that day, a few days prior so they know in advance and it doesn’t come as a surprise. Giving them lots of encouragement and praise for their co-operation will not be wasted.

 So don’t worry if your seven year old didn’t get to sit in the front seat, or your toddler wanted to wear their jumper inside out. I have photographed hundreds of families and I haven’t had a shoot yet where I haven't managed to get some great family shots.
IS THERE A LIMIT IN THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN OUR GROUP? Family reunions/gatherings I can do as long as you understand I may need longer for the session which would incur an additional charge especially if there are a few young children in the mix too. The best thing is to have a chat with me in advance regarding larger groups.
WHERE CAN I HAVE MY OUTDOOR SESSION? There are so many wonderful locations throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians. Think of somewhere that has lovely memories for you, perhaps you have a favourite family day out location. I've been to Lauriston Castle, Calton Hill, Corstorphine Walled Garden, Dalkeith Country Park and Penicuik House to name a few. I'm always excited to go somewhere new!
WHAT IF IT'S RAINING? Sessions usually proceed unless the weather is very wet and windy. If it's light rain then I proceed. A bright umbrella can make a picture! Check the forecast a few days before and ensure that you have the correct clothing if things do change and in this country that is a certainty!
DO YOU HELP US TO POSE? Perhaps you are feeling a little anxious about looking awkward in your photos and not knowing how to position yourself so that it all looks very natural. That's what I'm here for. I will provide some gentle direction where needed.
HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL? My base is Rosewell in Midlothian and generally I will cover Edinburgh, East Lothian, West Lothian and some of the Borders. If you choose a location outside 25 miles of my base then I do charge for mileage which will be 50 pence per mile.
