YOUR PATHWAY
TO BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS

01

We’ll begin with a relaxed pre-consultation. Nothing formal, just a proper conversation about you and your new addition. What’s brought you here? What are you longing to remember?

It’s a chance to make sure this feels right. If you’d rather type than talk, that’s absolutely fine. We’ll do it your way.

02

Your in-home photo session is a pause from the everyday demands of being a new parent. Treat it as simply time to bond with your newborn.

There’s no rush, no agenda, just time to hold tiny hands, nurture and enjoy the newborn bubble. You'll end feeling quietly thrilled about what we’ve captured.

03

Within 2 weeks, you’ll step into your own little world of memories. Your photos will be waiting in a beautifully simple online gallery, complete with a slideshow.

Take a deep breath, press play, and let the moments wash over you. (happy tears optional, but very likely.)

04

You'll have 30 days to view your gallery. It's time to pick your favourite images, select your products/packages, and add any extras. All this can be done directly from the gallery.

Place your order within the first 7 days and you’ll get 15% off. I'll be on standby to guide and assist with image selection, where needed.

PHOTOS ROOTED AT HOME

There’s something quietly meaningful about photographing your baby in the very place you brought them home to. No packing bags, no travelling. Just familiar rooms and beautiful window light (the very best kind). It’s convenient, gentle, and completely unintrusive. These are your early days together, captured exactly where their story starts. Home.

NO PROPS OR BASKETS

There’s no expectation to sit perfectly or hold your baby a certain way. No props, no baskets, no elaborate setups (because you’ve got enough going on). Your session is about  about sinking into the sofa, breathing them in, stroking tiny fingers. Simply bonding. I’ll quietly notice the tenderness unfolding, stepping in gently when needed.

MINIMAL PREPARATION

There’s no need to tidy. Don't hide the bottles, the muslins, the evidence of new life everywhere (you've just given birth and this is how life is right now). These fleeting weeks deserve to be remembered as they truly are - the closeness, the quiet awe, the tiny details. Honest, heartfelt images that take you right back.

COMMON QUERIES

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY NEWBORN PHOTO SESSION? Newborns are best photographed up to 12 days old if you want to get that curled up, sleepy look they have in the first week but it's not going to do any harm if you book a date when they are 2 or even 3 weeks old. They don't lose the newborn look overnight! Ultimately, it's when you are ready! Don't put pressure on yourself to get photographs taken too early.

MY BABY HAS BEEN BORN ALREADY. AM I TOO LATE TO BOOK? No. If you call to book a date that's just a few days away and I have availability, you can get booked in without any issues.

WHAT IF MY BABY IS OVERDUE, CAN I CHANGE THE DATE? Yes, it is a simple case of postponing to a more suitable time. I must stress though that both you and baby must be feeling healthy and up for the session. If you don't feel like you are ready, then you must let me know and we can reschedule.

DO YOU COME TO MY HOME AND IF SO, WHAT ABOUT THE MESS? Yes. I don't have a studio but I believe that having the session in your own home makes you and baby more relaxed with all the necessary items to hand! Please don't worry about a messy house, that's not what I'm photographing!

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH ROOM IS BEST FOR PHOTOGRAPHS? All we need is a room with a good sized window that lets plenty of natural light in. Most sessions I have done have been in the main bedroom, taking shots on the bed. All you need to do is make your bed nice and neat and pull up any blinds so that the room is as light as possible. Also ensure that the room is nice and warm.

SHOULD I FEED MY BABY BEFORE THE SESSION? Give your baby a good feed an hour before the session and your baby may well be sleeping when I arrive. When they are asleep this is the perfect time to capture fingers and toes without too much movement! There is plenty of time allowed for top ups and changes so you don't need to worry about this.

WHAT ABOUT OUTFITS? The most important thing is that you are comfortable and can breastfeed easily if you aren't bottle feeding your baby. Some mums like to wear a special outfit they have chosen but a stretchy top or wrap dress in plain colours is absolutely fine. You can instantly dress it up with a simple necklace should you wish. Avoid very loud patterns. The focus after all is on you and your baby.

CAN SIBLINGS BE INCLUDED? Absolutely, yes. If there is an older sibling they usually try and get in the pictures anyway! I like to capture touching moments between them and the new person in their lives. It's a curious time for them after all which creates a brilliant opportunity. How they interact and their expressions are all wonderful to photograph. Partners are also welcome to be a part of it. A family shot is most certainly on my list of must have shots during the newborn session. Sometimes families want just the baby and that is fine.

DO YOU USE PROPS? If you are looking for babies in baskets and buckets then I'm not the right photographer for you. I don't generally touch your newborn but give you simple guidance on how to hold and position them for different shots. The only items that usually get photographed with your newborn are a soft toy, perhaps a wee hat and a blanket. For me, I think that is all that is necessary and I think that too many props gets fussy. I want the focus to be on the natural beauty of your baby.

SARAH OLIPHANT

Had a great session with Kirsty when my little one was 2 weeks. The photos capture him so well in the early days and it was a really relaxed session that was a good excuse to just cuddle and focus on my baby for a few hours.

Kirsty made the whole process of getting family photos done so easy. She was incredibly professional - but most importantly for me was how approachable and easy going she made the whole process.
