Family Holiday on the West Coast

Updated: Aug 20, 2019

We've always enjoyed holidays on the west coast ever since I was wee so it's nice to return regularly with my own brood. This year it was a trip up to Gairloch with Granny and Aunty & Uncle along for the ride too. It's a long old journey particularly if you are towing a trailer but (and I can't believe we've left it so long), we finally bought headphones for the kids dvd players and it was almost like they weren't in the car ;-)

It's so beautiful up this way. Dramatic skies and beaches are not in short supply. On the first day it was buckets and spades at the ready and up to our knees in the water at Gairloch beach but hubby always goes one step further and stuck to tradition for a very brief swim.. ! brrrrrrrrr

We had a brilliant cottage with the most awesome view across to the Torridon mountains feeling right at home straight away. After a week of exploration, discovering little beaches and a fantastic glass bottom boat trip, we were all exhausted but happy in that we had made lots of new memories. Douglas was particularly proud of his bone collection!
